I am tired of getting viruses and linux has less malware. Its free compared to a prohibitively expensive macs. But I heard that is primary for programmers and coders. Can I still attempt to use it? Can a laptop with celeron m processor dual boot?

Just curious — what freeware/shareware programs that you’ve downloaded would you say are really useful to you? I’m thinking more about applications/helpers than games programs. What would you recommend as a “must get” download to your friends and family?

Because wikipedia is open source, I can modify anything I want. But what happens if someone deletes, adds bad content, modifies useful content ? What does wikipedia do to prevent that ?

The last question is available for any other open source software: linux, php etc. How do they know which contribution is useful and which is harmful ?
